Chronic Pain

The Beginning of the End of Your Pain.

Chronic pain is a major disruptor to the quality of your life. Whether it is generalized all over your body or at a specific joint or region, it has a number of causes commonly overlooked and under-treated by the conventional medical system. Many people are surprised to learn about how quickly and relatively easily some of these issues can be treated when you identify the right cause. The low risk, high reward procedures we use to treat them will tell us within 2-3 visits if they’re working and we strive to start treatment right on the first visit. You don’t need to accept your pain as a fact of life, there are options and there is hope.

Where you hurt and why.

If you’ve been told that you have arthritis and you’ll just need to learn to live with it, you don’t have to accept that. Even if you have some imaging that shows arthritis, it doesn’t mean that is where your pain is coming from. In my 10+ years of experience treating pain, I’ve found that the majority of people’s joint pain is coming from the structures that cross over the joint (nerves, ligaments) or insert on the bone (tendons) in the vicinity of the joint. In the instances that it is arthritis, there are still scientifically vetted injections like prolotherapy and PRP which can significantly improve those conditions, with the intention of regeneration as opposed to steroids which help with symptoms but contribute to further degeneration in the long run. Commonly under-recognitreated causes of joint pains include: nerve pain and entrapment, tendinopathy/tendinitis, arthritis, scar pain, ligament pain. These all respond in kind to specific treatments that include prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma, perineural therapy, neural therapy, myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy.

We help people struggling with everything from generalized pain all over their body, to very specific injury related pain. The problem area’s we get our best results are:

What your treatment will look like:

We offer prolotherapy, PRP, and perineural therapy at this clinic.  Benefits and risks of these therapies should be discussed within the context of a consultation.  That said, a pain visit is interactive. We may find that your pain is coming from a nerve, muscle, scar, or joint – so we treat those using different techniques. One advantage of this approach is that you get instant feedback that directs the treatment as we go. We treat, re-evaluate, then move to the next tissue type and injured site in the same session, with the intention of 100% symptom relief before you leave the office (this is not always possible, but it’s what we shoot for).

We use diagnostic ultrasound at our clinic when it is necessary to visualize deeper structures and guide needle placement in higher risk areas.  It is not always required, but it is important for some treatments.  Of note we are not radiologists, and making a diagnosis based on the imaging we use is not in our scope of practice.  We use it solely for needle guidance, which is within our scope.

What to Expect from treatment

Our ideal goal is 100% resolution of your pain as quickly as possible. The response to treatment is quite individual and is dictated by one’s healing response and severity of injury. Most patients require 3-6 treatments, but some can be up to 10. We closely follow your progress to determine whether we are on the right course of action

An injection visit ranges in cost from $150-300 for Prolotherapy/Perineural therapy depending on the number of areas, structures, and type of injections needed. PRP starts at $795 due to the cost of the platelet harvesting kit. At the initial consultation the doctor will give you an estimate of the expected cost of treatment.

If your plan has coverage for Naturopathic Medicine (and they pretty much all do), we can bill them directly for part or all of your visit depending on your coverage.
